TTFA LIVE - CHICAGO!

TICKETS HERE!

You know how every day someone asks “how are you?” And even if you’re totally dying inside, you just say “fine,” so everyone can go about their day? Terrible, Thanks for Asking is a podcast that is the opposite of that. Nora McInerny asks real people to share their complicated and honest feelings – sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and sometimes both at once.

Please join us for a live performance of the podcast. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you won’t want to miss the human connection. Or the sack of rare coins secretly placed under one seat in the auditorium. Is that a real thing??? YOU’LL NEED TO BE THERE TO FIND OUT.

Presented in partnership with WBEZ’s Podcast Passport and The Fest, curated by Third Coast International Audio Festival

Still Kickin Sessions: Let's Talk About Money

What On Earth Is “Financial Literacy” (And How Can I Get Some)? Money. Finances. Budgets. We hate talking about this stuff. We’re intimidated by it.

That ends now.

At our third Still Kickin Sessions, our panelists will teach us how to navigate the tricky, sometimes-scary world of financial literacy. Afterward, our friend from YNAB (You Need A Budget) will show us how to use their program and get our moolah organized.

Choose from two ticket options

1. Panel + YNAB workshop

2. YNAB workshop only

"But what if I want to attend just the panel?" You can! Choose ticket option #1 for that (that way, if you change your mind, you'll still have a spot in the second half of the event). Ticket prices are the same across the board.

Class with Nora // This Is Not (just) A Sad Story

SOLD OUT EVENT

Nora McInerny is teaching a 1 day class at The Loft Literary Center!

Everyone has a sad story, but sad stories are rarely only sad. Join memoirist and reluctant grief expert Nora McInerny as she brings her insight, humor and story telling craft to the exploration of stories about the most terrible things in life. Students will learn to use humor, insight and candor as they conquer writing about the most challenging aspects of their own lives and selves.

Using essays from writers like Anne Lamott and Joan Didion, students will explore the multidimensional complexities of living and writing sad stories. How do we deal with our feelings while writing about the most tragic parts our lives? How do we honor our own perspective while writing about others? When does a sad story become tragedy porn and when is it valuable? How do we address the most challenging parts of our selves and our lives with both honesty and empathy?
